Wonton – Small bite with big flavours (8mth+)

Wonton is a type of Chinese dumpling. They come in small parcels and available in many form, fried, steam or in soup. This baby version wonton contains savoury filling of minced chicken, prawns and some vegetables. It is a perfect way to incorporate vegetables in your young children’s diets.



  • 100g minced chicken
  • 1 tablespoon of chopped carrot*
  • ½ tablespoon of chopped spring onion
  • 1 teaspoon of corn flour
  • ½ teaspoon of sesame oil
  • ½ teaspoon of soya sauce^
  • ½ tablespoon of thinly cut prawn (optional)
  • Few sheets of store bought wonton wrapper

Note :

*broccoli, carrot, water chestnuts are great alternative to the vegetable

^ Season with baby soya sauce if your child is above 1 year old


Method :

In a bowl, mix minced chicken, chopped vegetable, cornflour and seasoning together. Stir to combine well to make a sticky filling. Scoop mixture (size of 5 cents coins) on a sheet of wonton wrapper. Slightly moist the edges of the wonton wrapper with water, then cover the filled wrapper with another sheet of wonton wrapper. Use a cookies cutter to cut out shape of small wonton.


Boil the wonton in soup for 5 minutes, serve warm.
