There is no denying that sweet foods appeal to children – and often adults too. There are many natural sweet foods such as fresh fruits, and some vegetable that you can offer to your young children. The no-fry donut recipe is how we turn the pumpkin into yummy sweet treats for your young children.
Ingredients (Makes 8 small donuts)
- 200g flour
- 2g yeast
- 80g steamed and mashed pumpkin
- 40ml milk
- Diced red dates as sprinkle (optional)
Method :
Place flour, yeast, mashed pumpkin in a large mixing bowl, mix well with a spatula. Start kneading until a smooth dough is formed. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a plastic wrap and let the dough rise for 30 minutes or doubled in size.
Turn out the dough in a flour surface. Roll out until it is half an inch in thickness. Use a donut cutter to cut out the donut. Alternatively, use a floured-dusted round cutter, cut donut circles. Using a smaller cutter, cut out a donut hole. Rest the donut for 10 minutes. Brush the donut surface with fresh milk, sprinkle diced red dates on top.
Transfer donuts in a steamer, cover donut and let it rise for 30 minutes.
Steam donuts for 12 minutes. Serve warm or cold. These donuts can be kept in an airtight container and freeze up to 1 week.
