
Apple crumble is an absolute crowd pleaser! Very easy to make, this apple crumble is ideal to serve as desert, tea or even breakfast! If your little one isn’t quite used to using cutlery yet, try make this small version apple crumble using small pie tins. It makes it much easier for the little one to feed themselves.
Step 1 – prepare apple filling
Apple filling – The apple filling is not dry as we used apple puree and sliced apple to achieve the perfect filling. Refer to our blog in Sep 2022 for apple puree recipe.
Ingredient for apple filling : 1 green apple, 1 red apple, thinly sliced.1 cup of apple puree and 2 tablespoon of brown sugar (omit if you are making for toddler below 2 years old).
Step 2 – prepare pie crust & crumbly topping
Mix 100g of cold butter into 200g of flour to resemble crumb form, like wet sand. Set aside 100g of crumbs for topping.
To make pie crust, add an egg yolk into the remaining crumbs to form a pie dough. Gently press into mini pie tins.
Step 3 - assemble apple crumble
Scoop apple filling into the mini pie tins and sprinkle crumble toppings generously.
Step 4 - Baked in a pre-heated oven at 180c for 20-25 minutes.
