We had shared how to make homemade apple puree in our previous post. Let’s make another baby-friendly dessert recipe using the homemade apple puree (or Heinz Apple Puree) – Apple Pie Pops.
Ingredients:
- 2 sheets of puff pastry
- 1 apple, peeled & diced
- 1 jar of Apple Puree (refer to our previous blogs for homemade apple puree, or use Heinz apple puree)
- 1 egg (beaten for egg wash)
Instructions
To make apple pie filling : gently stir fry diced apple with some butter until soft. Add in Apple Puree to cook for another 2 -3 minutes. Set aside to cool.
Preheat oven to 180 C degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Dust your working area with a bit of flour. Roll out a pastry sheet so that it's about 12 inches by 12 inches. Using a 2 inch (Circle Cookies Cutter) or any cookie cutter, cut pastry into desired shapes.
Mix diced apple and apple puree into a bowl. Spoon the apple filling into the hearts, you don't want to use too much apple filling because it will be hard to top with pastry. Place a lollipop stick in each cut pastry. Top with the remaining pastries and press the edges with a fork to seal. Place on prepared baking sheet. Brush with egg wash, cut a small slit into each lollipop with a small knife.
Bake for about 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
